Why Want the Appendapulator?

What Makes a Flemspackle Tick?

by Jiller Elf

[Why Want the Appendapulator?]
Dolores Looking for an edge.
Dolores Flemspackle and her son Phil have come to the North Pole to get the Appenapulator--the great toymaking machine of the North Pole--to use for their own company: Flemspackle Industries.

"I've never heard of heard of Flemspackle Industries," said Bernard Elf, Santa's Number One Elf. He had joined Santa, along with Gizmo Elf (who invented the Appendapulator), plus Eugene and Holly Elf, to talk to the Flemspackles about their wishes.

Also, there was a Yeti in the room. Why was there a Yeti in the room? Because no one wanted to tell the Yeti to leave.

"What sort of things do you make?" asked Bernard.

Phil Flemspackle cleared his throat. "Well, have you heard of Choco-Blok cereal?" The elves all smiled excitedly. It's well-known that elves have a sweet tooth. "Have we heard of it?" asked Eugene. "If there's one thing we elves like more than candy, it's cookies. And if there's one thing we might like more than cookies, it's Choco-Blok cereal!"

"A Block of Chocolate in Every Bowl," sighed Holly Elf, repeating the cereal's slogan.

"So Flemspackle Industries makes Choco-Block cereal?" asked Bernard.

"No..." said Phil, and the elves stopped smiling. "You know how there's a prize inside specially-marked boxes of Choco-Blok cereal" The elves smiled again.

"You mean the 'Choco-Hog The Wonder Pig' action figures?" Gizmo Elf asked excitedly? "I love them!"

"I've collected all six!" said Bernard Elf.

"Me, too!" said Eugene.

"I've got five myself," said Santa.

"They very tasty!" said the Yeti.

"So you make the toys for the cereal?" asked Gizmo.

"Umm...again, no..." said Phil. and, again, the elves stopped smiling. "Do you know the little plastic bags the toys come in?"

"Oh, I hate those bags!" said Holly Elf. "They're so hard to open. I pull, and pull, and they don't open."

"Scissors don't work, either," said Eugene.

"I have to use my drill-press on them," said Gizmo. "Very frustrating, those bags. Why do you mention them?"

Phil cleared his throat. "Because... that's what we make. We make the bags that hold the toys that are in the Choco-Blok cereal."

"But why do you make them so hard to open?" asked Bernard.

"Security!" snapped Dolores Flemspackle. "Security is the motto of Flemspackle Industries! It's the most important thing in modern business. When we close a bag--it stays closed!"

"So that's all you make? Bags that no one can open?"

Phil tugged at his collar and smiled nervously. "Well, we also made a car. The Flemmobile was the most secure car ever built. The problem was, we couldn't get inside it. "

"Security!" said Dolores again, proudly.

"I think we've taken the security thing a little too far, Mom," said Phil. "Like I said, the new thing for business is to be green. And if we use Appendapulator technology, we'll be the first company who ever made products with no pollution whatsoever!"

Phil Flemspackle has a good idea, but can Santa and the Elves help him? Keep reading The North Pole Times to find out!

Super Secret Sunday Final

Now the conclusion of the CASE OF THE MISSING CHRISTMAS WISH LIST.

School of Wonders Elves Graduate

Graduation is an elf’s favorite day at school. After all, it is the day we are rewarded for all of our hard schoolwork.

-
Shortly after you go to bed tonight, Santa will leave for his trip around the world! He’ll land on rooftops, pulled by his magical team of reindeer, in every city, every town and every country across the globe to deliver wonderful gifts to wonderful boys and girls.

-
After nearly a month away from the North Pole, Santa Claus had returned at last. But before he got ready for Christmas Eve, he needed to ask Gizmo Elf something:

-
Sparks flew! Gears ground! Widgets fidgeted! Steam billowed up and around Waldo and the Appendapulator! There was a sound like a giant balloon popping, and then all was silent.

-
Waldo Elf was laughing. You fellas sure do know how to tickle my funnybone! he said.

-
Gimo Elf looked up from his work on the Appendapulator to find a group of elves looking at him. This was nothing new to Gizmo recently. Ever since he had accidentally popped Santa away from the North Pole, elves were stopping by, checking on his progress, seeing if he needed anything, encouraging him any way they could to help him bring Santa back.

-
All the elves were working very hard at the North Pole, getting ready for Christmas. But none were working harder than Gizmo. Unfortunately, he seemed to be making no progress in getting Santa back to the North Pole.

-
Santa's still getting popped around by the Appendapulator. Now he's in England!

-
Who would drive the sleigh if Santa is away?

-
What if Santa doesn't make it back to the North Pole in time for Christmas?

-
On one end of the Appendapulator, everything was 'business as usual;' brightly wrapped presents were popping out ot the machine as fast as the elves could carry them away. At the other end, though, things were a little different.

-
Mrs. Claus appeared at the doorway of the workshop. "Santa sent us another email!" she called.

-
Moving a machine like the Appendapulator from one place to another is not an easy job. It's especially difficult when all the reindeer are busy competing at the Reindeer Games.

-
What's normally good news this time of year brings trouble to the North Pole.

-
One second Santa's in California, the next he's in New York!

-
Sometimes things just go from bad to worse. And sometimes they go from worse to downright terrible.

-
S. Alfred Pickles looked around the workshop. His beady eyes gazed longingly at the Appendapulator, the great toymaking machine of the North Pole.

-
Inside the cloud of steam, a shape loomed. It was large. It was round-bellied. It wasn't Santa!

-
The Appendapulator whirred and bonked, clanked and clonked, and then was still. "I just don't understand it, Waldo," said Gizmo Elf, inventor of the giant toymaking machine. "It looks like everything is working fine, but things aren't

-
"We've got another email from Santa!" Jiller Elf called out.

-
Gizmo thinks the flanged prestidigimuggin is the problem. He's probably wrong.

-
The North Pole hears from Santa; tells everyone he's safe.

-
On a typical early December day at the North Pole, elves are very busy. They sort out Christmas lists, build toys, and generally get ready for the Big Night, Christmas Eve, when Santa Claus delivers gifts to all the children of the world. This, however, was not a typical early December day at the North Pole. Santa Claus was popped out of the North Pole during a demonstration of the modified Appendapulator, the main toy-making machine of the North Pole.

-
During a demonstration of an upgraded Appendapulator, the great toy-making machine of the North Pole, Santa Claus suddenly disappeared. Witnesses report that there was some sort of popping sound, and Santa was no longer there!

-
During a demonstration of the Appendapulator, Santa Claus was popped away from the North Pole.

-
The Appendapulator, the great toy-making machine of the North Pole, has just been modified by Gizmo Elf, Santa's Chief Inventing Elf, and the Appendapulator's creator.

-
When we arrived at Gizmo Elf's workshop, we were greeted by a closed door and the sounds of conks, bonks, boiks and boops from inside. Santa knocked on the door, and the noises stopped for a moment, followed by the sound of someone whispering. Suddenly there was a loud crash, a tinkle, a honk, and then the door opened. A small head with enormous glasses poked out.

-
Gizmo and Waldo are working on the Apendapulator, and everyone else waits to see what they're doing!

-
Santa Claus toured the grounds of the North Pole yesterday, making sure all is ready for the big rush to Christmas. He was accompanied by Mrs. Claus and Bernard Elf.

-
Will there be changes in the way the Elves get ready for Christmas?

-
Santa has a message for all the kids out there!

-
Get ready for another fun-filled adventure at Santa’s Village at the North Pole.

-
It's that time of year again. Readers of the North Pole Times are in for some special treats this year.
