What's a holiday party without shrimp cocktail? Here's a twist on the classic, direct from the Arctic.
Hi there! So many songs that we hear on the radio this time of year remind us that Christmas is coming. One of the most-played and one of my all-time favorites is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
I think about the meaning of this song and others as we’re making toys for girls and boys around the world in the Toyshop up here at the North Pole throughout the year. It’s gotten to be quite a big project with all of the new requests that come in from Santa’s lap.
You may have also heard the expression, “Good things come in small packages” or something like that. One thing I’ve noticed is that many of you ask Santa for gifts which are actually very small in size. It got me to thinking that no matter the size of the gift we receive (big or small), each one is so very special, because someone thought about us enough to buy us a gift. For that, we can be so very happy and thankful no matter what is inside the wrapping paper or under the tree.
I’ve said this before, too: There’s no better feeling than to give a gift. My favorite gifts don’t cost anything but are simply the best…like big hugs or smiles when people walk past me. You just need to turn up the corners of your mouth. It takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown so smile away! You’ll never get tired out. HaHa! I’ll be writing to you each week from now until the Big Day (December 25, 2008) so I’ll close for now. I hope you have a great week and remember to be on your best behavior so your wish can be on Santa’s list come Christmas Eve!

P.S. I thought you or the grownups in your life might like to see the words to the song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Ralph Blane & Hugh Martin.
Here they are:
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
