[Will Santa Go to the Dogs?]

Gizmo Elf finished fiddling with the presentator, and sighed. "I think it's ready."

"I hope so," said Bernard Elf. Bernard had a dog on a leash in his left hand, and a cat in his right. Gizmo had asked for them to be brought to the workshop for an experiment. Right now the dog was busy sniffing everything he could get his nose near, and the cat was busy leaving hundreds of tiny hairs all over Bernard's tunic.

Gizmo took the leash from Bernard's hand. "Are you a good little doggy?" he asked the animal.

"Woof!" replied the dog.

Gizmo took the cat from Bernard. Both Bernard and the cat seemed to be happy to be away from each other.

"Who's a good kitty?" asked Gizmo.

"Meow!" said the cat, happily.

Gizmo picked the Presentator back up and aimed it at the animals. "Let's see if this works," he said, and pulled a lever. The machine went 'blurp,' and the animals glowed briefly.

[by Eugene Elf] Gizmo went over to the dog. "Who's a good kitty?" he asked the dog.

"Meow!" purred the dog, happily.

Gizmo looked at the cat. "Are you a good little doggy?" he asked.

"Woof" said the cat, waggiing its tail.

"Now we need to see if we can switch them back. That's the tricky part."

Gizmo adjusted a dial on the machine, and flipped another switch. The machine went 'prulb,' and again, the animals glowed briefly.

"Well?" asked Bernard. "Did it work?"

The cat said "Meow!"

Gizmo said "Woof!"

And the dog said "Um, I think I know what the problem is. However, I will need someone to help me, since right now, I don't seem to have any thumbs."
