Long Jump Gold Up in the Air

Reindeer Games Heat Up

[Long Jump Gold Up in the Air]

Welcome back! Today, our famous reindeer will finish the second event of this year’s competition – the Long Jump.

In yesterday’s first round of the Long Jump, Prancer, Vixen, Dancer and Donder finished with the best four leaps, all more than 26 miles! And so they return to Santa’s Workshop Arena for the final round.

The best jump today will win our second gold medal of the games.

“This should be an exciting competition,” said Rudolph, on hand for expert commentary but not allowed to play in any reindeer games. “All the deer have been competing hard and having fun, too.”

Ok, so let’s get to the action at Santa’s Workshop Arena, where many fans have arrived to watch the deer. First up is Prancer. She’s off and running, and she takes off beautifully over the Arena. Yes, it’s a very good jump and, after a soft landing and careful measurement from the Official Elves, it’s an excellent jump of 27.5 miles.

Next up is Dancer. Again, a good run-up and a fine leap. And Dancer jumps 28.2 miles! She’s in the lead right now.

And now we have Vixen. Vixen takes off, and it’s another good jump. This one goes for 29.2 miles. Now, Vixen is in first place!

And now our final deer, Donder.

“It’s been a very good competition so far,” said Rudolph. “Let’s see what Donder can do.”

Donder is at the starting point. He makes his run-up to the jump-off point, and he’s off. It’s a beautiful leap. He’s out of the Arena and out and up over the North Pole. Remember, no flying here! And surely, Donder has merely jumped, but what a jump it is.

He lands gracefully, far from the Arena, and the official elves have the tape measures out quickly. The final tally? Donder leaps 30.3 miles, and that’s the best of the competition. He is the gold medal winner for the Long Jump.

And so, Donder is our second gold medal winner of the games, joining Dancer who took the gold in the High Jump competition.

Check back tomorrow to see the Great Eight compete in the Sprint Race, our third event of the games. Following the Sprint Race will be the Around-the-World Marathon, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, the Obstacle Course and the Snowboarding event in what hopes to be the best Reindeer Games ever!
