Oh, bring us some figgy pudding, Oh, bring us some figgy pudding, Oh, bring us some figgy pudding, And bring it right here.
Welcome back to the Reindeer Games! Today we begin our third event of the games, the Sprint Race.
“It’s been a super competition for the first two events, and today should be no different,” said Rudolph.
So far, we’ve had two gold medal winners -- Donder in the Long Jump and Dancer in the High Jump competition.
And now, we begin the Sprint Race, the third event, and we do so on the special race course created by Manny Elf, head of Reindeer Games construction.
“The reindeer are very, very fast,” said Manny, “so we had to design a special track for them to run. It’s very, very long and very smooth too, so they won’t get hurt. They are going so fast, you know, that even a small bump might trip them up. And we have special cameras too, so all of our fans can see the race better.”
Yes, indeed, the reindeer go so fast, it’s almost impossible to see who’s winning the race! But that is one talent that make the reindeer so special.
And so we begin! All eight will take their place at the starting point, and the top four finishers will move on to tomorrow’s final round.
Up to the starting line are Dancer, Donder, Comet, Vixen, Prancer, Blitzen, Dasher and Cupid. They are all warmed up and ready to go!
“This should be a good first round,” said Rudolph, on hand for expert commentary. “Surely, it will be a close race. Thank goodness for the super-slow-motion cameras so we can get a better look at the race.”
And so we’re ready. The flag is up and their off!
“It’s a fantastic start,” said Rudolph, “all eight are moving very fast!”
The special course is 10 miles long, but the deer won’t take long to finish. At the five-mile mark, it’s very close -- all eight are antler-to-antler. Too close to call.
Coming up on eight miles, it looks like Vixen has a slight lead, with Blitzen trailing by a nose and Dasher and Cupid only inches behind.
“This is going to be close!,” said Rudolph.
At nine miles, it’s still a horse race, uh, we mean a deer race. Dancer has a slight lead, and Donder and Comet are just off the pace.
Finally, we’re heading down the home stretch. It’s too close to call! Only the top four make it. Who will it be?
Just a hundred yards away, and all eight are bunched together. Finally, we are across the line, but only inches separate all eight reindeer. The Official Elves are reviewing the video, and we have our top four!
We have Comet, Prancer, Donder and Dasher as the top four finishers. They will move on to tomorrow’s final round! Check back tomorrow to see who will win the third gold medal of this year's Reindeer Games.
