The North Pole is always a cheerful, happy place. Even in the coldest winter, even when it's close to Christmas and there's so very much to do, the Elves at the North Pole are upbeat and positive.
And of all the Elves, the cheerfullest, upbeatiest, most positiviest of them all has always been Waldo Elf.
But today was different:
Adamup Elf was in the store room, counting all the presents that had been finished and were waiting to be delivered by Santa on Christmas Eve. The presents were stacked high all around him, and he quickly went through his numbers. "One million three hundred thousand two hundred and fifty six one million three hundred thousand two hundred and fifty seven, one million three hundred thousand two hundred and fifty eight..." he muttered, checking the toys off on his clipboard.
The door slammed open behind him, and in came Waldo Elf, who tromped across the room. Waldo left the door open, and the wind from outside started blowing.
"Waldo? Could you close that door? The wind might knock over these presents!"
Waldo didn't even look up. He just continued tromping across the floor.
"Waldo? Did you hear me? I said..." just then a big wind blew in through the door and all the presents tumbled to the ground!
"Waldo! Look what you did! Come help me pick up!" cried Adamup, but Waldo kept going, through the room and out the door on the other side.

Ali Elf sat back from her sewing machine and smiled. "Louis!" She called, "Look at this!" Louis Elf, Santa's Fashion Designer Elf, came over. "I made this for Waldo!" she told him. "He's always wearing clothes that don't fit him, so I made this for him for Christmas!"
"Wow...that's nice!" said Louis. "Waldo will love it. Why wait until Christmas? Why not give it to him now? It would be a gift to all of us to not have to see those ugly clothes he wears!"
So Ali and Lewis went out to find Waldo. They found him in the sleigh barn, sitting on a pile of logs. "Waldo!" said Ali Elf happily. "Look what I made for you!" She handed him the handsome new tunic. "I was going to give this to you for Christmas, but maybe you'd like to wear it now!" She handed the tunic to Waldo, who just looked at it.
"Waldo?" asked Louis, "are you all right?"
"I'm fine!" snapped Waldo. "Sheesh! Leave me alone!" he said, dropping the tunic on the ground and stomping away.
Ali and Louis looked at each other in amazement. What's going on with Waldo? Keep reading the North Pole Times to find out!
