A moist and delicious banana bread recipe that your 'lil elves will go nuts over. Santa just loves it served warm with a pat of butter.
Today, we continue with the Speed Skating competition. The four winners from yesterday’s races will square off today for a spot in the final round.
The winner of the Speed Skating will be the sixth gold medal winner of the games, joining Dancer in the High Jump, Donder in the Long Jump, Comet in the Sprint Race, Vixen for the Around-the-World Marathon and Prancer in the Figure Skating competition.
After Speed Skating, we have only two events left – the Obstacle Course and the Snowboarding event, before the games come to a close.
Yesterday, Blitzen, Cupid, Vixen and Dancer won their races and moved to today’s semifinal. Blitzen will race Vixen and Cupid will meet Dancer today.
Ok, let’s head out to the Hoojamawazit Skating and Ice Cream Palace, for the action! A sold-out crowd has packed the Palace for the first round of the speed skating.
Waldo is at the Palace, too, but he does not look happy. Perhaps something is wrong with Waldo we don’t know about.
Meanwhile, the first race is about to begin. Blitzen and Vixen are at the starting line and ready to go. The race is five times around the special speed skating oval, and the first deer across the finish line wins!
“This should be another exciting day,” said Rudolph. “The reindeer can move very fast, with or without skates.”
And the flag is up, and they’re off! And into the first turn, Blitzen takes a slight lead, but Vixen is right on her tail.
“Nice start from Blitzen,” said Rudolph. “She’s off to a great start.”
After the first lap, Blitzen maintains a slight lead. My, the deer are going fast, and very quickly, the deer complete the second, third and fourth laps. It’s very close, but Vixen has moved in front as we move into the last lap.
It’s around the turn, and into the back stretch and then the final turn for home. It’s antler to antler all the way!
“This one should be close!” said Rudolph.
Indeed it is – and down the stretch, it’s Vixen, no it’s Blitzen, oh wait, it’s Vixen, and across the line, the winner is – it’s Blitzen! He wins the first race of the day and moves on to tomorrow’s final.
Next up, it’s Cupid and Dancer. They’re ready to go, and they’re off!
It’s another close race, and Cupid and Dancer are neck and neck around first lap, and the second lap and third and fourth, too. It’s Dancer by a nose after the fourth lap!
Coming into the last lap, Cupid is inches in front, but Dancer takes back the lead heading into the back stretch.
“Oh, my, it’s going to be close,” said Rudolph.
Heading into the home stretch, it’s Dancer by an inch, but here comes Cupid! Can he take the lead? It’s very close, it’s neck and neck, and across the line, it’s Cupid by half an inch. Oh, my another great race.
Check back tomorrow, as Cupid and Blitzen race to see who wins the Speed Skating competition and the sixth gold medal of the Reindeer Games.
