Reindeer Take on Obstalce Course

Agility is key

Welcome back to the Reindeer Games! Today, we begin the seventh event of the games, the Obstacle Course.

We’re getting closer to Christmas Eve when the reindeer will lead Santa’s sleigh all over the world, hoping to bring joy to so many children. And our Obstacle Course will be a good test-run for the Big Night.

In this event, the reindeer will have to make their way through some falling snow, fly over a hill, land on a small house and then take off to the finish line in Santa’s Workshop Arena.

Falling snow?

“Yes, the elves have put together a giant snow-making machine just for the event,” said Rudolph. “I hope it doesn’t make too much snow, though, or I may have to help the reindeer get through it with my shiny, red nose!”

And we know Rudolph can’t play in any reindeer games, so let’s hope the elves have their snow-making machine under control. Let’s see as we begin the first round. Each reindeer will get a shot at the course, and the top four will move on to tomorrow’s semifinal round.

First up is Dasher. The flag is up and she’s off! He takes off through the snow and makes it effortlessly over the hill and onto the small house.

“Well done by Dasher so far,” said Rudolph. “He’s looking very graceful.”

And Dasher takes off nicely again and heads to the Arena. He’s across the finish line in 22.7 seconds. A very nice run.

Next up is Blitzen. Blitzen also makes a fine take-off and heads over the hill. He’s onto the house and takes off well.

“There’s a slight slip on the takeoff by Blitzen,” said Rudolph. “It’s not easy what the reindeer must do here. But they make it look easy.”

Indeed. And Blitzen crosses the line in 23.6 seconds.

And now it’s time for Cupid, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Donder and Dancer to make their runs, too.

Each deer does an excellent job, and we have our top four. Moving on to tomorrow’s semifinal will be Dasher, Blitzen, Vixen and Comet.

“The snowmaking machine is doing and excellent job, and so are the reindeer,” said Rudolph. “Tomorrow should be another fun day at the games.”
