We continue today with the second day of the Snowboarding competition. This is the first time we’ve had Snowboarding in the Reindeer Games, and it’s very exciting.
Yesterday, the reindeer performed well in the Slopestyle competition, and today it’s the Big Air event.
In the Big Air competition, the reindeer will perform tricks after launching off a big ramp built just for the event. The reindeer will perform tricks high in the air before they hope to land without falling. It’s very difficult and very exciting for the fans, too.
Ok, let’s head out to the course. We are ready to go and first up is Cupid! She’s heading down the ramp and there she goes!
Oh, my what will Cupid do?
“Fantastic,” says Rudolph. “Cupid comes up with a clean switch backside 1260. That’s just a super move.”
Snowboarders like to use some funny words, but it’s all in good fun. A 1260 means the reindeer spin around three and one-half times in the air. Oh my that’s a bit scary, but the reindeer are very talented. And they have practiced a long time with these tricks, too. So, the reindeer should not be in any danger.
Next up is Donder. Donder’s heading down the ramp, and she’s in the air. Oh, my it’s a spectacular move by Donder.
She completes two huge double backside rodeo 1080s. Oh, that’s just fantastic. That’s difficult to say, never mind to try to do. A 1080 is three spins in the air, in addition to the other double backside rodeo stuff.
“The fans are going wild here on the mountain,” says Rudolph. “It’s very cold, but everyone is enjoying the competition. Snowboarding is so much fun to watch.”
And so the other reindeer make their way through the Big Air competition, and that’s it for the second day of the Snowboarding event. The scores are very close, and any reindeer could win the last gold medal of the games.
Check back tomorrow when we have the final day of the Snowboarding competition.
