TOOMANY Tasks For Toomer!

It's a snowy night here in the North Pole as I type this. Having said that, every day's a snowy one up here! I'm not normally up at this time, but things are different this Christmas. Let me explain what I mean...

In case you don't know who I am, let me introduce myself. I'm Toomer Elf – Head of Santa's Good Deeds Department. There's no need for you to introduce yourself – I know exactly who you are! It's my job to keep track of all the children in the world, recording all your good deeds for Santa. I also write a column here at the North Pole Times every Tuesday (Terrific Task Tuesdays!).

Normally things go quite smoothly, but this year I've got a problem. Well, more than one problem - two billion problems, to be precise! Did you know there are now over seven billion people in the world?! The world's population hit that figure sometime over the past year. So that means there are more children than ever to watch and record their terrific tasks. About two billion children! That's more children than I've ever had to deal with and I just don't know how to cope.

So, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to post a job advertisement in this week's column. Hopefully by next week I'll have found an assistant to help me spot all the terrific tasks going on out there! I have to have some help, otherwise some children might lose out and I couldn't have that.
