Pass on secret codes that only you and your fellow spy detectives can decipher. This Super Secret Decoder Wheel is SO secret that... We’d tell you more but, it’s a secret! :) A great way to build analytical skills.
1. Begin by printing the template on cardstock then cut it out.
2. Poke a hole in the center part of both the inner and outer wheel using a paper piercer or any sharp object. This will help you in inserting the brad pin smoothly and avoid scrunching the paper.
3. Place the inner wheel on top of the outer wheel and insert the brad pin to fasten both wheels together.
How to encrypt your code:
1. Choose a letter from the smaller wheel on top. This will be used as the SUPER SECRET KEY to share between you and your fellow detectives to encrypt and decrypt the secret message.
After you choose a letter from the smaller wheel, line it up with the “A” from the larger wheel.
LARGE WHEEL: A
SMALL WHEEL: M
SUPER SECRET KEY = A:M
2. Begin encrypting each letter of your super secret message. Find the first letter of your message on the larger wheel and write down the code letter which appears below it on the smaller wheel
In the example below, A=M, B=L, C=K, etc.
LARGE DISK: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
SMALL DISK: MNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKL
3. Continue finding each letter until your message has been encrypted. Once you are finished, send your friend the encrypted message and the SECRET CODE KEY separately.
EXAMPLE: EGBQD EQODQF RGZ = SUPER SECRET FUN
