Getting to Know You

Mrs. Claus introduces Elves

[Getting to Know You]

Hello out there to all our friends all over the world! This is Mrs. Claus writing you from the North Pole. Elvin Elf has asked me to write a little bit about Christmastime up here from my perspective. Well, to tell you the truth, I'm not sure that's all that interesting. It's a fabulous life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! But mostly, it's just making presents, baking cookies, and getting Santa ready for Christmas Eve. Oh, and keeping Waldo out of trouble.

Hmm. As I read what I just wrote, I wonder if you know anything about Elvin and Waldo? We here at the North Pole know who all these people are, but maybe you don't. So, why don't I tell you a little bit about some of the Elves who work here?

Elvin Elf is Editor in Chief of the North Pole Times. He feels that it's his duty to make sure everyone knows about what's going on at the North Pole. He likes to go out and report, but nowadays spends most of his time working on editing and putting the North Pole Times together.

Bernard Elf is the Elf in charge of e-mail. Bernard is pretty much Santa's #1 elf. He's technically minded, a computer whiz, carries a PhD in everything having to do with the North Pole, and handles ALL the email and postal mail sent to Santa. When Santa is not around, he's the Elf in charge.

Gizmo Elf, inventor extraordinaire. His motto is "If something's broken, fix it. If something's not broken, tinker with it anyhow." He created the Apendapulator, the finest toymaking machine in the world. Gizmo is smart enough to build a spaceship over a weekend. His problem is that he never knows when he's done building something.

Jiller Elf is a part-time reporter at the North Pole Times. Elvin wants her to work full time, but Jiller likes working in the toyshops too much. She's a quick learner, and can pitch in just about anywhere at the North Pole. Jiller prefers cream of broccoli soup to cookies.

Louis Elf is the Elf in charge of Fashion Design for all the dolls created at the North Pole. His job is a very important one. His tremendous artistic talent and eye for detail has made him THE number one doll fashion designer in the world.

Waldo Elf is the strangest elf at the North Pole. He's always happy, always willing to do what he's told--it's just that he doesn't always understand what he's being told to do. He's one of the most likable elves at the North Pole. Even though he gets into trouble sometimes, Waldo has also saved Christmas on more than one occasion.

Well, that's just some of the fine Elves that you'll meet if you ever decided to come up for a visit--or if you keep reading the stories published every day here in The North Pole Times!
