Not Forgetting the Smells!

[* Sights and Sounds of Christmas]

Dear Elf-readers,
I want you to close your eyes and think about all of things that make you think of Christmas. This is something you can do all year round, but it is especially powerful at Christmastime. I don't know about you, but I love the sights and sounds and SMELLS of Christmas.

Have you ever been in a kitchen where someone is baking bread or a cake or cookies, or cupcakes? Chances are that smell will make you feel good all over. Well, there things to see in books, magazines on television and best of all - in person - that can make me feel great, too! I love driving around and looking at the Christmas lights that people put on their houses this time of year.

Some of the lights are blinking and twinkling. Some lights are many colors. Some are all white. Some flash and some are on all the time. I hope I got you thinking about some of the things to take in with your senses during the holidays.

As I close for another year, I'll leave you with the words to a Christmas song that have many "visions" of Christmas for us. God bless you and your families. Until next time, I'm always,
Eddie the Elf ;)

We Need A Little Christmas

by Jerry Herman

Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now

For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet

Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
It hasn't snowed a single flurry
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry

So climb down the chimney
Turn on the brightest string of lights I've ever seen
Slice up the fruitcake
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough

For I've grown a little leaner
Grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder
Grown a little older

And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder
Need a little Christmas now

For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing
Ringing through the rafter

And we need a little snappy
"Happy ever after"
Need a little Christmas now!
