Reindeer Games Begin Today

The Great Eight get ready for Big Night

[Reindeer Games Begin Today]

Where is everybody?

It was the day before the start of the Reindeer Games, and Santa couldn’t find any reindeer.

A worried Santa looked everywhere for Rudolph and for his Great Eight reindeer, the ones who will lead his sleigh on Christmas Eve, namely Vixen, Cupid, Dasher, Donder, Dancer, Comet, Prancer and Blitzen.

“I’ve looked inside and outside, and I’ve looked up and down,” said Santa. “Where could they be?”

After all, without the reindeer to compete, there will be no Reindeer Games. No events for Santa’s best to get ready for the Big Night, which is just a few weeks away. No High Jump, no Long Jump, no Sprint Race and no the Around-the-World Marathon. No Figure Skating, no Speed Skating, no Obstacle Course and no Snowboarding contest.

So what to do? Well, Santa paced up and down and back and forth in his tidy home at the North Pole, and just when he was about to give up, just when he was about to call the North Pole police for help, he noticed a red glow in the snow just outside his window. Right in his own backyard. What could it be? Surely the snow could not be turning red!

Santa hurried outside and headed for the spot where the red glow was, a spot where there was lots and lots of snow. He brushed away the snow, and lo and behold, there was Rudolph!

“Ha, ha, Santa! Surprise!” laughed Rudolph.

And out he popped, and nearby, all the other reindeer leaped from underneath the snow bank too.

“We just wanted to see if you missed us,” said Rudolph. “For sure, you seemed worried.”

“Oh my,” said Santa. “I sure was worried. No reindeer, and there would be no Christmas for all the little children of the world. Surely I was worried.”

“Don’t worry,” said Rudolph. “Christmas will be here soon and better than ever. But first the Reindeer Games!”

And so, all headed over to Santa’s Workshop Arena for the opening ceremonies of the Reindeer Games. And all of the North Pole was there to cheer the deer.

With a large crowd of elves and reindeer and other North Polians in attendance, Santa officially opened the Reindeer Games at the packed Workshop Arena. Every seat was filled for the rousing ceremony, as Santa welcomed the famed competitors.

Vixen, Cupid, Dasher, Donder, Dancer, Comet, Prancer and Blitzen marched into the Arena to loud cheers from all.

The Great Eight once again will show their stuff in eight difficult events over the next 24 days, hoping to the entertain the locals while getting ready for the Big Night – Christmas Eve – when they will ferry Santa’s Sleigh to all parts of the world.

This year, the Reindeer Games will feature the High Jump, Long Jump, Sprint Race, the Around-the-World Marathon, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Obstacle Course and the Snowboarding event.

A slightly disappointed Rudolph will not play in any Reindeer Games, but will be on hand to provide expert commentary, as well as some very bright lighting for the night competitions.

The Games will begin tomorrow with our first event – the High Jump. Check back to see how our reindeer do in this very difficult event!
