One of my favorite songs during the holiday season is Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This is the 75th Christmas since the song was first written by J. Fred Coots and Henry Gillespie.
I have included the words below for you to read. What I like most about this song is that it says that Santa Claus is a part of our lives all the time, all year round.
If you've ever visited my columns before, you'll know that I speak each year about the importance of keeping a Christmas spirit in your heart all year round, not just in the month of December.
With that in mind, I'll start my 2009 series of columns. Have fun with your family and friends over the next few days.
If you have an Advent wreath, be sure to light the first purple candle. Or, if your family has an advent calendar, you get to start using it this week, because Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Take care. See you next time! Eddie Elf
"You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
[Chorus:]
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He's making a list
He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out
Who's naughty or nice
[Chorus:]
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
So you better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
[Chorus:]
The kids in girl and boyland
Will have a jubilee
They're gonna build a toyland
All around the Christmas tree"
