"It's all set!" Toby called out, looking at his masterpiece with pride.
He ran to the top of the hill and hid behind the bushes. He was waiting for the annoying pest to come and take the bait.
But suddenly, instead of Chris Mouse, twelve little mice appeared, hopping around and trampling the snow.
"I must be dreaming," Toby rubbed his eyes. "All these mice! It's like a treasure chest."
He jumped out of the bushes and rushed towards the mice. But Toby had no idea that his little enemy had set a trap for him. He approached the roller skate when Chris wriggled out and threw a twig in front of Toby's feet. Toby tripped and stepped on the roller skate.
"Uh-oh," Toby cried out as he realized his foot was stuck to the glue.
He started sliding down the hill so fast that he couldn't control his legs. Slipping and wiggling, Toby stumbled and started to tumble. The snow began to stick to the elf's body as he rolled down the hill. With each roll forward, Toby picked up more snow.
Bouncing off the snowy bumps, he tumbled faster and faster until he turned into a giant snowball. The snowball got bigger and bigger, spinning and gathering more and more snow. And when it reached the frozen lake, the snowball stopped just above the hole in the ice.
"Phew," Toby let out a sigh of relief as he didn't fall into the hole.
But, out of nowhere, Chris appeared with a shovel.
"Don't you dare," Toby threatened, but the mouse paid no attention to his words.
Chris started shoveling snow until Toby fell into the water.
Splash!
Who will help Toby out of his own trap? Find out tomorrow, ONLY on the North Pole Times.
