Hoover Blooper

To solve the super secret case of the sabotaged sewing machine, Super Secret Jack Spinner the Specialized Sleuth and his Mighty Sidekick Zachery the Kosmic Kid searched for clues in the reindeer barn, followed suspicious footprints in the snow, and finally ended up in Mrs Claus’ kitchen to interview her about the incident. She poured their second cup of cocoa while they munched on homemade spicy gingerbread cookies.

Super Secret was wearing a fluffy pink throw—given to him by Mrs Claus to wear while she washed his clothes after an unfortunate run-in with reindeer poop.

Just as Super Secret began questioning Mrs Claus about what she was doing before the sewing machine broke, disaster struck. Excited to interview the victim, he sprang to his feet, tripped over the cosy pink throw, and fell headfirst into the table.

BAM! CRASH!

Cocoa spilled across the floor and the plate of gingerbread cookies went flying.

“ANOTHER bruiser! That’s gonna leave a mark,” he muttered.

Kosmic watched in awe. Super Secret surveyed the chaos, shouted, “Another trap!” and dove under the table to search for clues.

When things finally settled, Mrs Claus answered Super Secret’s question.
“This morning, before the sewing machine stopped working, I was doing the usual—sprucing up the house,” she explained. “I tidy, I dust, and the very last thing I do is run the hoover. I’d just put it away before I sat down to sew.”
Kosmic Kid leaned in and whispered, “I think it’s time to take a look.”

Before Super Secret could crawl out from under the table—still wrapped in pink fluff—Mrs Claus and Kosmic darted upstairs. Super Secret heard their footsteps and eagerly followed.

He burst into the workroom to find Kosmic crouched behind the sewing machine.
“Aha! Mystery solved!” Kosmic announced. “Something knocked the plug out of the wall socket!” He lifted the cord from the floor and clicked it back in.

“Of course! The hoover!” Mrs Claus chuckled. “I guess I had a hoover blooper.”

“No one move! It could be another trap!” Super Secret warned. He grabbed a scrap of fabric and pressed the pedal. The machine whirred—but nothing happened.
“Ha! Sabotaged! We’ll have to—”

Kosmic quietly handed him a reel of red thread. “It needs one of these before it’ll work properly.”

“I knew it! I KNEW it! I just knew it!” Super Secret boasted. “The hoover all along—just as I thought!

“You see, Kosmic Kid, follow the clues from the beginning; they’ll ALWAYS lead to solving the case!”
Kosmic Kid sighed. “Of course, Super Secret. I’m certainly learning a lot of what not to do.”

“Stick with me, Kid,” Super Secret replied, patting his head. “You’re learning—but you’ve got a ways to go yet.”

And there you have it—another Super Secret case solved by Super Secret Jack Spinner the Specialized Sleuth and his Mighty Sidekick Zachery the Kosmic Kid.
