In the morning, the elves helped Toby remove the mousetraps and the Christmas tree needles from his body.
Augh!
Owww!
Yeow!
And finally, when the last thorn was detached, Waldo ran over and gave Toby first aid.
"There," Waldo chirped, "you look like new."
Toby got up from his chair and looked at himself in the mirror. He was all covered in bandages and band-aids.
"Like new?!?" Toby gasped. "I look like a-a-a...," he couldn't find the right word.
"Tee-hee-hee, like a mummy," Chris said.
"Yeah, like a mummy. Thanks," Toby thanked, glancing at the mouse. He turned his gaze back to the mirror. It took him a while to realize that he had just thanked his enemy. And when he figured out Chris Mouse standing right at his feet, Toby scowled, "You little squeaky bag! I will catch you!"

Chris tee-hee-heed once more and started running away from the angry elf.
The elves watched their friend chase the small rodent as their gaze went left and right, up and down. Over the chairs and under the tables, Toby sprinted, knocking down everything in his path. He was so determined to catch the mouse this time that no obstacle could stop him. When Chris climbed the cupboard, Toby followed him, crawling over the shelves. When the mouse reached the candelabra on the ceiling, the elf followed him, swinging on the chandelier. Finally, when Chris jumped to the floor, Toby leaped with a brilliant backward somersault.
Surrounded and cornered, Chris watched with frightened eyes as the scowling elf approached him with a big glass jar.
Will Toby trap Chris this time? Find out tomorrow, ONLY on the North Pole Times.
