BREAKING NEWS - SANTA BACK HOME

Elves cheer as a quiet hero returns home

Listen to this story

The North Pole had never been so quiet.

Elves gathered outside the workshop, scarves pulled tight, eyes fixed on the sky. Mrs. Claus stood at the front, hands clasped, hope and worry written plainly on her face.

Then someone gasped.

“There!” Holly Elf cried, pointing upward.

Two bright shapes streaked across the sky—fast, graceful, and unmistakable.

“Dasher and Comet!” voices shouted at once.

The reindeer swooped lower, hooves flashing, manes flowing, until at last they descended toward the Pole. Riding proudly on their backs were two familiar figures.

Santa Claus and Waldo Elf were coming home.

Cheers erupted across the North Pole. Bells rang. Elves laughed and cried all at once as Dasher and Comet touched down gently in the snow. Santa slid off first, steadying himself, his joy unmistakable. Waldo followed, landing with a soft thump, looking around as if he wasn’t quite sure what all the excitement was about.

Santa raised a hand, and the cheering slowly quieted.

“My dear elves,” Santa said warmly, his voice carrying across the crowd. “Christmas was nearly lost this year. Rockets failed. Plans fell apart. And when all hope seemed gone…”

Santa placed a hand on Waldo’s shoulder.

“…one small elf asked one simple question.”

The elves leaned in.

“Waldo reminded us of something we had nearly forgotten,” Santa continued. “That sometimes the oldest magic is stronger than the newest machine.”

A roar of cheers broke out.

“Waldo saved Christmas!” someone shouted.

Waldo’s eyes widened. “I did?” he asked softly.

Santa laughed, deep and joyful. “Yes, Waldo. You did.”

Mrs. Claus stepped forward, pulling Waldo into a warm embrace. “We are so proud of you,” she said, smiling through happy tears.

Before Waldo could say a word, a group of elves swept in, laughing and cheering as they gently lifted him onto their shoulders. Waldo blinked in surprise, clutching his hat as he rose above the crowd.

“Waldo! Waldo! Waldo!” the elves chanted.

High above the cheering crowd, Waldo looked out over the North Pole, still not quite understanding why everyone was so excited—but feeling warm all the same.

Around them, elves clapped, whistled, and rang bells as Dasher and Comet stamped proudly in the snow, tossing their heads as if they knew exactly what they’d just done.

Santa raised his voice once more.

“And now,” he declared, “thanks to Waldo, Dasher, and Comet… Christmas is back on schedule!”

The cheers rang louder than ever.

Waldo looked up at Santa, still a little stunned.

“Oh,” he said simply. “That’s good.”

But while Santa was home and Christmas was saved, there was still much to do.
Toy deliveries, final checks, and one very important night were just ahead.

Be sure to return to The North Pole Times tomorrow to see what happens next.
