The Workshop floor looked… slow.
Mrs. Claus and Toby Elf stood side-by-side, watching as elves shuffled past in a sugary haze. Screwdrivers drooped. Hammers thumped thumbs instead of nails. Yawns spread like a winter breeze.
“It’s like this every day at this time,” Toby sighed. “They start out singing and working great… and then suddenly — boom — everything slows down.”
Mrs. Claus lifted an eyebrow. “And toy production?”
Toby winced. “We’re falling behind. There are so many kids on the Nice List this year. And with the Appendapulator building rocket parts instead of toys, I’m not sure we’ll make it.”
He scratched his head, stretched, and grabbed a cookie from a nearby tray.
“I’m very worried.”

Mrs. Claus stared at the cookie in his hand.
“When was their last break?” she asked.
“About an hour ago,” Toby said.
“And what did they have?”
Toby thought. “Dark fudge… snickerdoodle cookies… and egg nog.”
Mrs. Claus gasped softly, her eyes widening.
“Oh my. I think I know exactly why every elf in this workshop is so sleepy!”
