Elves Face a Tough Choice: Rescue Santa or Make Toys for Christmas

The day after Santa emailed everyone from the Santa Shuttle, a big debate erupted among the elves at the North Pole. The hot topic? Can they build a rescue rocket and still make toys at the same time?

“If we change the Appendapulator from a toy-making machine to a rocket-building machine, we can create a rescue ship and almost certainly get Santa back in time for Christmas!” said Toby Elf, Santa’s Chief Toy-making Elf.

“But if we do that, we won’t make nearly enough toys for Christmas Eve,” replied Gizmo Elf, designer of the Appendapulator and also a Chief Inventor Elf. “The Appendapulator makes more than 80 percent of the toys that Santa delivers. If we build the rocket, we can rescue him, but he won’t have anything to deliver to the kids!”

“I don’t know about that,” said Toby. “We got along fine without that contraption for many years. We can just go back to making toys the old-fashioned way.”

“I’m not so sure, Toby,” Holly Elf chimed in. “Have you ever tried making a Johnny Megalo Action Figure with Super Death Grip and Ultra-Fire Power using just a hammer, screwdriver, and paintbrush?”
