When the elves are buzzing around the Workshop and the snowflakes dance past my kitchen window, I love setting out this classic Christmas cheese ball. It’s creamy, savory, and rolled in crunchy pecans—an old-fashioned holiday favorite that brings smiles to even the busiest elf. Serve it at your own gatherings and watch it disappear faster than Santa’s cookies.
16 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
¼ cup finely chopped green onions
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup finely chopped pecans
In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until smooth and well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a piece of plastic wrap and shape it gently into a round ball.
Spread the chopped pecans on a plate and roll the cheese ball over them until fully coated.
Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm enough to slice and serve.
Place on a festive platter with crackers, pretzels, or fresh-cut veggies — and enjoy a cozy bite of Christmas cheer!
Let the cheese ball rest at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before serving for the softest texture.
Add a sprig of rosemary on top for a little holiday sparkle.
Make it 1–2 days ahead — the flavors get even better.
Cranberry-Pecan: Mix ¼ cup chopped dried cranberries into the cheese mixture.
Herb & Garlic: Swap green onions for fresh parsley and dill.
Bacon Cheddar: Add ¼ cup crumbled cooked bacon.
