Another Yeti Letter? From Who?

Fuzzy Wazzy was a... Yeti?

[Another Yeti Letter? From Who?]

Bernard Elf clung to the immense finger of the Yeti as he lumbered through the streets of The North Pole. As Santa's Number One Elf, and the Elf in charge of all mail sent to Santa, the Abominable Snowman was now his responsibility. Bernard was taking him to the Mail Room. At first, he wanted the Yeti to follow him, but the yeti was so big that he almost squashed Bernard with his first step!

"Lucky I got so much space between my toesies," rumbled the Yeti.

"Oh, please don't remind me. Eww! Yuck!" Bernard shivered as he remembered getting tangled up in the huge creatures toe hairs. "I'm just glad Lewis Elf had his scissors with him, and was able to cut me out.

"Sorry." Said the Yeti. "Only they don't gots scissors my size."

"Don't be sorry. We'll ask Gizmo Elf to make you a pair before you leave. As long as you're here, would you mind helping me out with something in the mail room?"

"Like helpin' Elves!" the Yeti grinned a big grin. "You gots letters to mail?"

"Sort of," said Bernard. "You'll see."

The mail room is the second-biggest room at The North Pole. It's where all the letters to Santa first go. It's so big, even a Yeti looks small inside it. Especially when he stands next to the pile of mail in the middle of the floor.

"Ooh! Lookit that!" No one knows why, but Yetis love mail. It makes no sense, since Yetis don't read.* But the piles of envelopes delighted the Abominable Snowman the same way a present under a Christmas Tree makes you happy.

"I was hoping you might help me get this sorted," said Bernard.

The Yeti smiled as only a Yeti can. "Oh, yes, please-and-thank-you!" he said.

Bernard sat on the creature's shoulder, and showed him how to sort the mail. In no time, the pile was half its original size. "You gets lots and lotsa mail here, Bernie." said the Yeti.

"We do," agreed Bernard, who was so happy at how well things were going, didn't even mind being called Bernie, "but you should have seen it before we could get e-mails."

"I don't like e-mails," said the Yeti. "You can't carry them."

"So what was she like?" asked Bernard, "The woman who gave you the letter?"

The Yeti shrugged, nearly knocking Bernard off his shoulder. "Dunno. Didn't see her. A man gave me the letter. I think the woman is his Mommy."

Just then the door to the mail room burst open, and Holly Elf came running in. "Another one!" she yelped. "We're getting another one!" She stopped and stared up at Bernard. "What are you doing up there?" she asked.

"Ummm...never mind that," said Bernard as he hastily climbed down from his new friend's shoulder. "What are you yelling about?"

"Just outside of town--I saw another one coming!" Holly almost squeaked with excitement. "We're getting another Yeti Letter!"

Another letter? Who could this one be from? You'll find out tomorrow, only in The North Pole TImes!

*It's not that they can't read--they just don't. Nothing seems to hold their interest.
